A Quiet Morning Delivering the Paper
I know that many teenagers have jobs delivering the paper, but you don’t usually hear about adults keeping paper delivery routes. But in my case, I decided that it was a good way for me to get some exercise and get paid for it. So, I have been delivering the paper for nearly five years now, and I enjoy the beauty each and every morning brings.
Today was much like any other day, though it was a little colder than I had expected. It amazes me how quiet our busy town can be when no one is awake – it is almost eerie. But the birds were out this morning chirping away and their melody was intoxicating. It is days like these that I almost wish I grew up on a farm, surrounded by nature instead of the incessant noise from the city.
My delivery route takes me about an hour to do. I do a couple of residential areas as well as part of a business park. It is usually a pretty uneventful time, but it gives me a chance to reflect on my week as well as the upcoming day, and it gives me some peace from my stressful job.
Sometimes I also get the chance to observe the wonders of nature on my travels. For example, this morning there was a pair of songbirds sitting on a sign for a company offering heating furnace repair Escondido and they made me smile. They brought some beauty to an otherwise prim and proper building.
I don’t know how many more years I will deliver papers, but I think I will continue for as long as I am able. I have felt a lot healthier since I took the paper route and I think that this quiet time is good for my soul.
